ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਬਿਵਰਜਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥ ॥
Abandonando el apego a Maya, uno se absorbe en la realidad.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੈ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥ ॥
Encontrando al Satguru, uno se une al Divino.
ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਨਿਰਮੋਲਕੁ ਹੀਰਾ ॥ ॥
El Nombre es una joya invaluable, un diamante.
ਤਿਤੁ ਰਾਤਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਧੀਰਾ ॥੨॥ ॥
Teñido en él, mi mente encuentra paz. ||2||
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਮਤਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥ ॥
El egoísmo y el apego no pueden tocarme.
ਰਾਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਭਾਗੈ ॥ ॥
A través de la devoción a Dios, el miedo a la muerte desaparece.
ਜਮੁ ਜੰਦਾਰੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਮੋਹਿ ॥ ॥
La muerte y el emisario de la muerte no tienen poder sobre mí.
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੋਹਿ ॥੩॥ ॥
El Nombre puro reside en mi corazón, embelleciéndolo. ||3||
ਸਬਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ਭਏ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੀ ॥ ॥
Contemplando la Palabra, uno se convierte en un adorador del Ser Sin Forma.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਜਾਗੇ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਪਰਹਾਰੀ ॥ ॥
Despierta en las enseñanzas del Gurú, rechaza los malos consejos.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਾਗਿ ਰਹੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥ ॥
Día y noche, permanece despierto con atención enfocada.
ਜੀਵਨ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਗਤਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੪॥ ॥
Liberación en vida, el estado final, se encuentra en el interior. ||4||
ਅਲਿਪਤ ਗੁਫਾ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਹਿ ਨਿਰਾਰੇ ॥ ॥
Vive desapegado, como en una cueva apartada.
ਤਸਕਰ ਪੰਚ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੰਘਾਰੇ ॥ ॥
Los cinco ladrones (lujuria, ira, codicia, apego, ego) son destruidos por la Palabra.
ਪਰ ਘਰ ਜਾਇ ਨ ਮਨੁ ਡੋਲਾਏ ॥ ॥
La mente no vaga hacia los hogares ajenos.
ਸਹਜ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਰਹਉ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੫॥ ॥
Permanece absorto en la serenidad constante. ||5||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਗਿ ਰਹੇ ਅਉਧੂਤਾ ॥ ॥
El Gurú despierta permanece como un asceta.
ਸਦ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਤਤੁ ਪਰੋਤਾ ॥ ॥
Siempre desapegado, conoce la esencia de la realidad.
ਜਗੁ ਸੂਤਾ ਮਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥ ॥
El mundo duerme, muere, viene y va.
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦ ਨ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਇ ॥੬॥ ॥
Sin el Gurú y la Palabra, no se encuentra comprensión. ||6||
ਅਨਹਦ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਜੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ॥ ॥
El sonido incesante resuena día y noche.
ਅਵਿਗਤ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤੀ ॥ ॥
El estado del Inmanifestado se alcanza a través del Gurú.
ਤਉ ਜਾਨੀ ਜਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਨੀ ॥ ॥
Se conoce cuando se reconoce a través de la Palabra.
ਏਕੋ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਨਿਰਬਾਨੀ ॥੭॥ ॥
El Único Sol permanece en la bienaventuranza. ||7||
ਸੁੰਨ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ॥ ॥
La mente se deleita en el estado de vacío y meditación.
ਤਜਿ ਹਉ ਲੋਭਾ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਤਾ ॥ ॥
Abandonando el ego y la codicia, se convierte en uno con el Divino.
ਗੁਰ ਚੇਲੇ ਅਪਨਾ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥ ॥
El Gurú y el discípulo honran su propia mente.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੂਜਾ ਮੇਟਿ ਸਮਾਨਿਆ ॥੮॥੩॥ ॥
Oh Nanak, al borrar la dualidad, se alcanza la unidad. ||8||3||

ਸਾਹਾ ਗਣਹਿ ਨ ਕਰਹਿ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ ॥
No cuentan respiraciones ni reflexionan sobre ellas.
ਸਾਹੇ ਊਪਰਿ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ ॥ ॥
Sobre las respiraciones está el Único Creador.
ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੋਈ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਣੈ ॥ ॥
Quien encuentra al Gurú, conoce el camino.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਤ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥੧॥ ॥
A través de las enseñanzas del Gurú, se comprende la Voluntad Divina. ||1||
ਝੂਠੁ ਨ ਬੋਲਿ ਪਾਡੇ ਸਚੁ ਕਹੀਐ ॥ ॥
No pronuncies falsedades, habla la verdad, oh erudito.
ਹਉਮੈ ਜਾਇ ਸਬਦਿ ਘਰੁ ਲਹੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ॥
El egoísmo desaparece, y se encuentra el hogar en la Palabra. ||1||Pausa||
ਗਣਿ ਗਣਿ ਜੋਤਕੁ ਕਾਂਡੀ ਕੀਨੀ ॥ ॥
Calculando y calculando, se crea un horóscopo.
ਪੜੈ ਸੁਣਾਵੈ ਤਤੁ ਨ ਚੀਨੀ ॥ ॥

ਸਭਸੈ ਊਪਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ ॥
Understand, that the Word of the Guru's Shabad is above all.
ਹੋਰ ਕਥਨੀ ਬਦਉ ਨ ਸਗਲੀ ਛਾਰੁ ॥੨॥ ॥
Do not speak of anything else; it is all just ashes. ||2||
ਨਾਵਹਿ ਧੋਵਹਿ ਪੂਜਹਿ ਸੈਲਾ ॥ ॥
You bathe, wash, and worship stones.
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਮੈਲੋ ਮੈਲਾ ॥ ॥
But without being imbued with the Lord, you are the filthiest of the filthy.
ਗਰਬੁ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਰਥਿ ॥ ॥
Subduing your pride, you shall receive the supreme wealth of God.
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਤਾਰਥਿ ॥੩॥ ॥
The mortal is liberated and emancipated, meditating on the Lord. ||3||
ਵਾਚੈ ਵਾਦੁ ਨ ਬੇਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੈ ॥ ॥
You study the arguments, but do not contemplate the Vedas.
ਆਪਿ ਡੁਬੈ ਕਿਉ ਪਿਤਰਾ ਤਾਰੈ ॥ ॥
You drown yourself - how will you save your ancestors?
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਚੀਨੈ ਜਨੁ ਕੋਇ ॥ ॥
How rare is that person who realizes that God is in each and every heart.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥ ॥
When one meets the True Guru, then he understands. ||4||
ਗਣਤ ਗਣੀਐ ਸਹਸਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਜੀਐ ॥ ॥
Making his calculations, cynicism and suffering afflict his soul.
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਵੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਥੀਐ ॥ ॥
Seeking the Sanctuary of the Guru, peace is found.
ਕਰਿ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਸਰਣਿ ਹਮ ਆਇਆ ॥ ॥
I sinned and made mistakes, but now I seek Your Sanctuary.
ਗੁਰ ਹਰਿ ਭੇਟੇ ਪੁਰਬਿ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥੫॥ ॥
The Guru led me to meet the Lord, according to my past actions. ||5||
ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਿ ਨ ਆਈਐ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ ॥
If one does not enter the Guru's Sanctuary, God cannot be found.
ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਈਐ ਜਨਮਿ ਮਰਿ ਆਈਐ ॥ ॥
Deluded by doubt, one is born, only to die, and come back again.
ਜਮ ਦਰਿ ਬਾਧਉ ਮਰੈ ਬਿਕਾਰੁ ॥ ॥
Dying in corruption, he is bound and gagged at Death's door.
ਨਾ ਰਿਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਸਬਦੁ ਅਚਾਰੁ ॥੬॥ ॥
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is not in his heart, and he does not act according to the Shabad. ||6||
ਇਕਿ ਪਾਧੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਮਿਸਰ ਕਹਾਵਹਿ ॥ ॥
Some call themselves Pandits, religious scholars and spiritual teachers.
ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਰਾਤੇ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਹਿ ॥ ॥
Tinged with double-mindedness, they do not find the Mansion of the Lord's Presence.
