ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਨਮੁ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਮੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਖੁਆਰ ॥੨॥ ॥
No se ha obtenido el Nombre de Dios; la vida se ha desperdiciado en vano.
ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ॥
Nanak, Yama (el dios de la muerte) lo humilla y lo destruye.
ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪੁ ਉਪਾਇਓਨੁ ਤਦਹੁ ਹੋਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥ ॥
||2|| Pauri || Él mismo creó a sí mismo; no hay nadie más.
ਮਤਾ ਮਸੂਰਤਿ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਜੋ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਈ ॥ ॥
Él mismo piensa y crea; lo que Él hace, sucede.
ਤਦਹੁ ਆਕਾਸੁ ਨ ਪਾਤਾਲੁ ਹੈ ਨਾ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਲੋਈ ॥ ॥
No hay cielo ni infierno, ni los tres mundos.
ਤਦਹੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਨਾ ਓਪਤਿ ਹੋਈ ॥ ॥
Él mismo es el Ser Inmanifestado; no hay otro.
ਜਿਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਕਰੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥੧॥ ॥
Como Él quiere, así lo hace; sin Él, no hay nadie más.
ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ॥
||1|| Salok, Tercer Maestro || Mi Señor está siempre presente; Él se manifiesta a través del Sabda (la Palabra).
ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਦਿਸੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥ ॥
Él es inmutable; nunca viene ni va.
ਓਹੁ ਅਉਹਾਣੀ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹਿ ਨਾ ਆਵੈ ਨਾ ਜਾਇ ॥ ॥
Sirve siempre a Aquel que reside en todo.
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸੋ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਜੋ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥ ॥
¿Por qué servir a otro que nace y muere?
ਅਵਰੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਕਿਉ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਜੰਮੈ ਤੈ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥ ॥
La vida de aquellos que no conocen a su Señor, y que fijan su mente en otros, es infructuosa.
ਨਿਹਫਲੁ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਜੀਵਿਆ ਜਿ ਖਸਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਅਵਰੀ ਕਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥ ॥
Nanak, así no parece apropiado; el Creador da el castigo.
ਨਾਨਕ ਏਵ ਨ ਜਾਪਈ ਕਰਤਾ ਕੇਤੀ ਦੇਇ ਸਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ॥
||1|| Tercer Maestro || Medita en el Nombre Verdadero; todo funciona con la Verdad.
ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ॥
Nanak, cuando se comprende la Voluntad Divina, uno se vuelve aceptable, y entonces uno obtiene el fruto de la Verdad.
ਸਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਭੋ ਵਰਤੈ ਸਚੁ ॥ ॥
El Creador habla y actúa; pero aquellos que no comprenden Su Voluntad, son ciegos, inútiles e indignos.
ਨਾਨਕ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਬੁਝਿ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਹੋਇ ਤਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਸਚੁ ॥ ॥
||2|| Pauri || Él creó la unión y la separación; Él creó la base de la Creación.
ਕਥਨੀ ਬਦਨੀ ਕਰਤਾ ਫਿਰੈ ਹੁਕਮੈ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਬੁਝਈ ਅੰਧਾ ਕਚੁ ਨਿਕਚੁ ॥੨॥ ॥
Por Su Voluntad, la Creación fue formada; la Luz se unió a la Luz.
ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ॥
Yo soy esa Luz, la Iluminación; el Gurú Verdadero ha hecho oír el Sabda (la Palabra).
ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ਵਿਜੋਗੁ ਉਪਾਇਓਨੁ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟੀ ਕਾ ਮੂਲੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ ॥ ॥
Brahma, Vishnu y Mahesh (las tres deidades hindúes) están ocupados en los tres gunas (cualidades).
ਹੁਕਮੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਾਜੀਅਨੁ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥ ॥
Él creó la base de la Maya (ilusión); al trascenderla, uno encuentra la paz.
ਜੋਤੀ ਹੂੰ ਸਭੁ ਚਾਨਣਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ ॥ ॥
||2|| Salok, Tercer Maestro || Esa es la meditación, esa es la penitencia que agrada al Gurú Verdadero.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਮਹੇਸੁ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਸਿਰਿ ਧੰਧੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥ ॥
Por la Voluntad del Gurú Verdadero.
ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾ ਮੂਲੁ ਰਚਾਇਓਨੁ ਤੁਰੀਆ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥ ॥

ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ॥
.
ਸੋ ਜਪੁ ਸੋ ਤਪੁ ਜਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਾਵੈ ॥ ॥
That alone is chanting, and that alone is deep meditation, which is pleasing to the True Guru.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ ॥
Pleasing the True Guru, glorious greatness is obtained.
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਗੁਰ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ॥
O Nanak, renouncing self-conceit, one merges into the Guru. ||1||
ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ॥
Third Mehla:
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਿਖ ਕੋ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਲੇਵੈ ॥ ॥
How rare are those who receive the Guru's Teachings.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦੇਵੈ ॥੨॥ ॥
O Nanak, he alone receives it, whom the Lord Himself blesses with glorious greatness. ||2||
ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ॥
Pauree:
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਹੈ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਅਤਿ ਭਾਰੀ ॥ ॥
Emotional attachment to Maya is spiritual darkness; it is very difficult and such a heavy load.
ਪਥਰ ਪਾਪ ਬਹੁ ਲਦਿਆ ਕਿਉ ਤਰੀਐ ਤਾਰੀ ॥ ॥
Loaded with so very many stones of sin, how can the boat cross over?
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਭਗਤੀ ਰਤਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰੀ ॥ ॥
Those who are attuned to the Lord's devotional worship night and day are carried across.
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਛਡਿ ਵਿਕਾਰੀ ॥ ॥
Under the Instruction of the Guru's Shabad, one sheds egotism and corruption, and the mind becomes immaculate.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੀ ॥੩॥ ॥
Meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har; the Lord, Har, Har, is our Saving Grace. ||3||
ਸਲੋਕੁ ॥ ॥
Shalok:
ਕਬੀਰ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸੰਕੁੜਾ ਰਾਈ ਦਸਵੈ ਭਾਇ ॥ ॥
O Kabeer, the gate of liberation is narrow, less than one-tenth of a mustard seed.
ਮਨੁ ਤਉ ਮੈਗਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਰਹਾ ਨਿਕਸਿਆ ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥ ॥
The mind has become as big as an elephant; how can it pass through this gate?
ਐਸਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜੇ ਮਿਲੈ ਤੁਠਾ ਕਰੇ ਪਸਾਉ ॥ ॥
If one meets such a True Guru, by His Pleasure, He shows His Mercy.
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੋਕਲਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਆਵਉ ਜਾਉ ॥੧॥ ॥
Then, the gate of liberation becomes wide open, and the soul easily passes through. ||1||
ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ॥
Third Mehla:
ਨਾਨਕ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਅਤਿ ਨੀਕਾ ਨਾਨੑਾ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਜਾਇ ॥ ॥
O Nanak, the gate of liberation is very narrow; only the very tiny can pass through.
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਨੁ ਅਸਥੂਲੁ ਹੈ ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਵਿਚੁ ਦੇ ਜਾਇ ॥ ॥
Through egotism, the mind has become bloated. How can it pass through?
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਹਉਮੈ ਗਈ ਜੋਤਿ ਰਹੀ ਸਭ ਆਇ ॥ ॥
Meeting the True Guru, egotism departs, and one is filled with the Divine Light.
