ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਪਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਇ ॥ ॥

ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਸੇਇ ॥੮॥੧੩॥ ॥

ਸਲੋਕੁ ॥ ॥

Renunciad a la sabiduría mundana, oh, seres humanos; recordad a Dios, el Rey. Confiad únicamente en Dios en vuestro corazón; Nanak, así el dolor, la duda y el miedo desaparecerán. ||1||

ਤਜਹੁ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਸੁਰਿ ਜਨਹੁ ਸਿਮਰਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥ ॥

Ashtapadi:

ਏਕ ਆਸ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਰਖਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੂਖੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ॥

El apoyo del hombre es vano, conocedlo todo. Hay un solo Dios para adorar. Aquel a quien Él concede Su gracia, permanece en satisfacción. Nunca más la codicia se le acerca. Él mismo mata y protege; el hombre no tiene nada en sus manos. Comprendiendo Su mandato, se obtiene la paz; mantened Su Nombre en vuestro corazón. Recordad, recordad, recordad al Señor Supremo; Nanak, ningún obstáculo os alcanzará. ||1||

ਅਸਟਪਦੀ ॥ ॥

Alaba al Inmortal en tu mente; practica la verdad en tu corazón. Purifica tu lengua y bebe el néctar. Haz tu vida siempre hermosa. Con tus ojos, contempla la belleza del Señor; en la compañía de los santos, se disipa toda la compañía mundana. Caminad por el sendero de los pies de Gobind; vuestros pecados se borrarán al recitar el Nombre de Dios. Haced las obras de Dios, escuchad Sus historias; en la corte de Dios, Nanak, vuestra frente será brillante. ||2||

ਮਾਨੁਖ ਕੀ ਟੇਕ ਬ੍ਰਿਥੀ ਸਭ ਜਾਨੁ ॥ ॥

Aquellos que son afortunados, en este mundo, siempre cantan las glorias de Dios. Aquellos que meditan en el Nombre de Dios, son ricos y sabios en este mundo. En mente, cuerpo y boca, hablan el Nombre de Dios; sabed que tales personas son siempre felices. Reconoced al Único, al Único, al Único; Él conoce el principio y el fin. Aquel cuyo corazón está unido al Nombre, Nanak, ha conocido al Inmaculado. ||3||

ਦੇਵਨ ਕਉ ਏਕੈ ਭਗਵਾਨੁ ॥ ॥

Gur]

ਜਿਸ ਕੈ ਦੀਐ ਰਹੈ ਅਘਾਇ ॥ ॥

By His gifts, we are satisfied,

ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਆਇ ॥ ॥

and we suffer from thirst no longer.

ਮਾਰੈ ਰਾਖੈ ਏਕੋ ਆਪਿ ॥ ॥

The One Lord Himself destroys and also preserves.

ਮਾਨੁਖ ਕੈ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਹਾਥਿ ॥ ॥

Nothing at all is in the hands of mortal beings.

ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਬੂਝਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ ॥

Understanding His Order, there is peace.

ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਖੁ ਕੰਠਿ ਪਰੋਇ ॥ ॥

So take His Name, and wear it as your necklace.

ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ ॥

Remember, remember, remember God in meditation.

ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥ ॥

O Nanak, no obstacle shall stand in your way. ||1||

ਉਸਤਤਿ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਰਿ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ॥ ॥

Praise the Formless Lord in your mind.

ਕਰਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ॥ ॥

O my mind, make this your true occupation.

ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰਸਨਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਉ ॥ ॥

Let your tongue become pure, drinking in the Ambrosial Nectar.

ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਕਰਿ ਲੇਹਿ ਜੀਉ ॥ ॥

Your soul shall be forever peaceful.

ਨੈਨਹੁ ਪੇਖੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕਾ ਰੰਗੁ ॥ ॥

With your eyes, see the wondrous play of your Lord and Master.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਸਭ ਸੰਗੁ ॥ ॥

In the Company of the Holy, all other associations vanish.

ਚਰਨ ਚਲਉ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥ ॥

With your feet, walk in the Way of the Lord.

ਮਿਟਹਿ ਪਾਪ ਜਪੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਬਿੰਦ ॥ ॥

Sins are washed away, chanting the Lord's Name, even for a moment.

ਕਰ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਮ ਸ੍ਰਵਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ॥ ॥

So do the Lord's Work, and listen to the Lord's Sermon.

ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਊਜਲ ਮਥਾ ॥੨॥ ॥

In the Lord's Court, O Nanak, your face shall be radiant. ||2||

ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਜਗ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ ॥

Very fortunate are those humble beings in this world,

ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਹਿ ॥ ॥

who sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, forever and ever.

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਜੋ ਕਰਹਿ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥ ॥

Those who dwell upon the Lord's Name,

ਸੇ ਧਨਵੰਤ ਗਨੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥ ॥

are the most wealthy and prosperous in the world.

ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੁਖੀ ॥ ॥

Those who speak of the Supreme Lord in thought, word and deed

ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਤੇ ਸੁਖੀ ॥ ॥

know that they are peaceful and happy, forever and ever.

ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਏਕੁ ਪਛਾਨੈ ॥ ॥

One who recognizes the One and only Lord as One,

ਇਤ ਉਤ ਕੀ ਓਹੁ ਸੋਝੀ ਜਾਨੈ ॥ ॥

understands this world and the next.

ਨਾਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥ ॥

One whose mind accepts the Company of the Naam,

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨਹਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥੩॥ ॥

the Name of the Lord, O Nanak, knows the Immaculate Lord. ||3||

ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਆਪਨ ਆਪੁ ਸੁਝੈ ॥ ॥

By Guru's Grace, one understands himself;

ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੁਝੈ ॥ ॥

know that then, his thirst is quenched.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਕਹਤ ॥ ॥

In the Company of the Holy, one chants the Praises of the Lord, Har, Har.

ਸਰਬ ਰੋਗ ਤੇ ਓਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਰਹਤ ॥ ॥

Such a devotee of the Lord is free of all disease.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਕੇਵਲ ਬਖੵਾਨੁ ॥ ॥

Night and day, sing the Kirtan, the Praises of the One Lord.

ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਤ ਮਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਨਿਰਬਾਨੁ ॥ ॥

In the midst of your household, remain balanced and unattached.

ਏਕ ਊਪਰਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਆਸਾ ॥ ॥

One who places his hopes in the One Lord

ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਕਟੀਐ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸਾ ॥ ॥

the noose of Death is cut away from his neck.

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਭੂਖ ॥ ॥

One whose mind hungers for the Supreme Lord God,

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਨ ਲਾਗਹਿ ਦੂਖ ॥੪॥ ॥

O Nanak, shall not suffer pain. ||4||

ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਨਿ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਵੈ ॥ ॥

One who focuses his conscious mind on the Lord God

ਸੋ ਸੰਤੁ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਨਹੀ ਡੁਲਾਵੈ ॥ ॥

- that Saint is at peace; he does not waver.

ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੈ ॥ ॥

Those unto whom God has granted His Grace

ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਕਹੁ ਕਿਸ ਤੇ ਡਰੈ ॥ ॥

who do those servants need to fear?

ਜੈਸਾ ਸਾ ਤੈਸਾ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਇਆ ॥ ॥

As God is, so does He appear;

ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਮਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥ ॥

in His Own creation, He Himself is pervading.

ਸੋਧਤ ਸੋਧਤ ਸੋਧਤ ਸੀਝਿਆ ॥ ॥

Searching, searching, searching, and finally, success!

ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਤਤੁ ਸਭੁ ਬੂਝਿਆ ॥ ॥

By Guru's Grace, the essence of all reality is understood.

ਜਬ ਦੇਖਉ ਤਬ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਮੂਲੁ ॥ ॥

Wherever I look, there I see Him, at the root of all things.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਸੂਖਮੁ ਸੋਈ ਅਸਥੂਲੁ ॥੫॥ ॥

O Nanak, He is the subtle, and He is also the manifest. ||5||

ਨਹ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਨਮੈ ਨਹ ਕਿਛੁ ਮਰੈ ॥ ॥

Nothing is born, and nothing dies.

ਆਪਨ ਚਲਿਤੁ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਰੈ ॥ ॥

He Himself stages His own drama.

ਆਵਨੁ ਜਾਵਨੁ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਅਨਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ॥ ॥

Coming and going, seen and unseen,

ਆਗਿਆਕਾਰੀ ਧਾਰੀ ਸਭ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ॥ ॥

all the world is obedient to His Will.
