ਏਕਸੁ ਚਰਣੀ ਜੇ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਹਿ ਲਬਿ ਲੋਭਿ ਕੀ ਧਾਵਸਿਤਾ ॥੩॥ ॥

Con un solo pie, si fijas tu mente, ¿por qué correr tras las ansias de la avaricia? ||3||

ਜਪਸਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਰਚਸਿ ਮਨਾ ॥ ॥

Medita en el Inmaculado, complace a tu mente.

ਕਾਹੇ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਜੋਗੀ ਕਪਟੁ ਘਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ॥

ਕਾਇਆ ਕਮਲੀ ਹੰਸੁ ਇਆਣਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਰਤ ਬਿਹਾਣੀਤਾ ॥ ॥

El cuerpo es como un loto, el alma un cisne; mi ego, mi ego, me causa gran confusión.

ਪ੍ਰਣਵਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਨਾਗੀ ਦਾਝੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਾਛੈ ਪਛੁਤਾਣੀਤਾ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੫॥ ॥

Nanak suplica, como una serpiente en llamas, luego se arrepiente. ||4||3||15||

ਗਉੜੀ ਚੇਤੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ ॥

El mantra es la medicina, la raíz es la mente única; si la afirmas con firmeza, oh amigo.

ਅਉਖਧ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਮੂਲੁ ਮਨ ਏਕੈ ਜੇ ਕਰਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ ਚਿਤੁ ਕੀਜੈ ਰੇ ॥ ॥

Cortará los pecados de vidas pasadas, oh amigo. ||1||

ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਮ ਕੇ ਕਾਟਨਹਾਰਾ ਲੀਜੈ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ॥

La mente única es el Señor, oh amigo.

ਮਨ ਏਕੋ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਭਾਈ ਰੇ ॥ ॥

Tus tres cualidades llenan el mundo, el Illimitado no puede ser visto, oh amigo. ||1|| Refrán ||

ਤੇਰੇ ਤੀਨਿ ਗੁਣਾ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ਸਮਾਵਹਿ ਅਲਖੁ ਨ ਲਖਣਾ ਜਾਈ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ॥

El trozo de azúcar, la Maya, es dulce para el cuerpo, pero nosotros la elevamos en alto, oh amigo.

ਸਕਰ ਖੰਡੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਤਨਿ ਮੀਠੀ ਹਮ ਤਉ ਪੰਡ ਉਚਾਈ ਰੇ ॥ ॥

La noche es oscura, no hay entendimiento; la vergüenza te corta como un cuchillo, oh amigo. ||2||

ਰਾਤਿ ਅਨੇਰੀ ਸੂਝਸਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਲਜੁ ਟੂਕਸਿ ਮੂਸਾ ਭਾਈ ਰੇ ॥੨॥ ॥

Los de mente egoísta sufren, los de mente Gurú obtienen grandeza, oh amigo.

ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਤੇਤਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਾਈ ਰੇ ॥ ॥

Lo que Él hizo, eso sucedió; la acción no puede ser borrada, oh amigo. ||3||

ਜੋ ਤਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਸੋਈ ਹੋਆ ਕਿਰਤੁ ਨ ਮੇਟਿਆ ਜਾਈ ਰੇ ॥੩॥ ॥

Los vasos llenos no se vacían, aquellos que están teñidos con Su color, oh amigo.

ਸੁਭਰ ਭਰੇ ਨ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਊਣੇ ਜੋ ਰਾਤੇ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਈ ਰੇ ॥ ॥

Si Nanak encuentra algo, entonces es un necio, oh amigo. ||4||4||16||

ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਪੰਕ ਹੋਵੈ ਜੇ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਉ ਮੂੜਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਈ ਰੇ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੬॥ ॥

¿De quién soy madre y padre? ¿De dónde vengo?

ਗਉੜੀ ਚੇਤੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ ॥

Nacido en el fuego, en el agua, ¿para qué propósito fui creado? ||1||

ਕਤ ਕੀ ਮਾਈ ਬਾਪੁ ਕਤ ਕੇਰਾ ਕਿਦੂ ਥਾਵਹੁ ਹਮ ਆਏ ॥ ॥

Oh, mi Señor, ¿quién conoce Tus virtudes?

ਅਗਨਿ ਬਿੰਬ ਜਲ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਨਿਪਜੇ ਕਾਹੇ ਕੰਮਿ ਉਪਾਏ ॥੧॥ ॥

No conozco mis propios defectos. ||1|| Refrán ||

ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਕਉਣੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਗੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ ॥ ॥

Cuántos árboles y plantas he visto, cuántos animales fueron creados.

ਕਹੇ ਨ ਜਾਨੀ ਅਉਗਣ ਮੇਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ॥

Cuántas serpientes han venido a este mundo, cuántas aves vuelan. ||2||

ਕੇਤੇ ਰੁਖ ਬਿਰਖ ਹਮ ਚੀਨੇ ਕੇਤੇ ਪਸੂ ਉਪਾਏ ॥ ॥

I took the form of so many plants and trees, and so many animals.

ਕੇਤੇ ਨਾਗ ਕੁਲੀ ਮਹਿ ਆਏ ਕੇਤੇ ਪੰਖ ਉਡਾਏ ॥੨॥ ॥

Many times I entered the families of snakes and flying birds. ||2||

ਹਟ ਪਟਣ ਬਿਜ ਮੰਦਰ ਭੰਨੈ ਕਰਿ ਚੋਰੀ ਘਰਿ ਆਵੈ ॥ ॥

I broke into the shops of the city and well-guarded palaces; stealing from them, I snuck home again.

ਅਗਹੁ ਦੇਖੈ ਪਿਛਹੁ ਦੇਖੈ ਤੁਝ ਤੇ ਕਹਾ ਛਪਾਵੈ ॥੩॥ ॥

I looked in front of me, and I looked behind me, but where could I hide from You? ||3||

ਤਟ ਤੀਰਥ ਹਮ ਨਵ ਖੰਡ ਦੇਖੇ ਹਟ ਪਟਣ ਬਾਜਾਰਾ ॥ ॥

I saw the banks of sacred rivers, the nine continents, the shops and bazaars of the cities.

ਲੈ ਕੈ ਤਕੜੀ ਤੋਲਣਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਘਟ ਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਵਣਜਾਰਾ ॥੪॥ ॥

Taking the scale, the merchant begins to weigh his actions within his own heart. ||4||

ਜੇਤਾ ਸਮੁੰਦੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਨੀਰਿ ਭਰਿਆ ਤੇਤੇ ਅਉਗਣ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥ ॥

As the seas and the oceans are overflowing with water, so vast are my own sins.

ਦਇਆ ਕਰਹੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਮਿਹਰ ਉਪਾਵਹੁ ਡੁਬਦੇ ਪਥਰ ਤਾਰੇ ॥੫॥ ॥

Please, shower me with Your Mercy, and take pity upon me. I am a sinking stone - please carry me across! ||5||

ਜੀਅੜਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਬਰਾਬਰਿ ਤਪੈ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਵਗੈ ਕਾਤੀ ॥ ॥

My soul is burning like fire, and the knife is cutting deep.

ਪ੍ਰਣਵਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ॥੬॥੫॥੧੭॥ ॥

Prays Nanak, recognizing the Lord's Command, I am at peace, day and night. ||6||5||17||

ਗਉੜੀ ਬੈਰਾਗਣਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ ॥

Gauree Bairaagan, First Mehla:

ਰੈਣਿ ਗਵਾਈ ਸੋਇ ਕੈ ਦਿਵਸੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਖਾਇ ॥ ॥

The nights are wasted sleeping, and the days are wasted eating.

ਹੀਰੇ ਜੈਸਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਹੈ ਕਉਡੀ ਬਦਲੇ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ॥

Human life is such a precious jewel, but it is being lost in exchange for a mere shell. ||1||

ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਰਾਮ ਕਾ ॥ ॥

You do not know the Name of the Lord.

ਮੂੜੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਾਛੈ ਪਛੁਤਾਹਿ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ॥

You fool - you shall regret and repent in the end! ||1||Pause||

ਅਨਤਾ ਧਨੁ ਧਰਣੀ ਧਰੇ ਅਨਤ ਨ ਚਾਹਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥ ॥

You bury your temporary wealth in the ground, but how can you love that which is temporary?

ਅਨਤ ਕਉ ਚਾਹਨ ਜੋ ਗਏ ਸੇ ਆਏ ਅਨਤ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੨॥ ॥

Those who have departed, after craving for temporary wealth, have returned home without this temporary wealth. ||2||

ਆਪਣ ਲੀਆ ਜੇ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਭਾਗਠੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ ॥

If people could gather it in by their own efforts, then everyone would be so lucky.
