ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਵੈ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ ॥
1. Oh Nanak, lo que está escrito, el Creador lo hace realidad. ||1||
ਮਃ ੧ ॥ ॥
1. Se vuelven ascetas, se vuelven sabios, se vuelven eruditos.
ਰੰਨਾ ਹੋਈਆ ਬੋਧੀਆ ਪੁਰਸ ਹੋਏ ਸਈਆਦ ॥ ॥
Practican la moralidad, el autocontrol y la pureza, y comen alimentos puros e impuros.
ਸੀਲੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਸੁਚ ਭੰਨੀ ਖਾਣਾ ਖਾਜੁ ਅਹਾਜੁ ॥ ॥
La vergüenza se ha ido de su hogar, y su honor se ha ido con ella.
ਸਰਮੁ ਗਇਆ ਘਰਿ ਆਪਣੈ ਪਤਿ ਉਠਿ ਚਲੀ ਨਾਲਿ ॥ ॥
Oh Nanak, solo Uno es verdadero; no busques la verdad en otro lugar. ||2||
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਾ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਅਉਰੁ ਨ ਸਚਾ ਭਾਲਿ ॥੨॥ ॥

ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ॥
Exteriormente se untan con ceniza, pero por dentro están llenos de impureza.
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਭਸਮ ਲੇਪਨ ਕਰੇ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗੁਬਾਰੀ ॥ ॥
Llevan harapos y bolsas de mendigo, adoptan muchas formas, pero tienen mentes malvadas y arrogantes.
ਖਿੰਥਾ ਝੋਲੀ ਬਹੁ ਭੇਖ ਕਰੇ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥ ॥
No pronuncian la Palabra del Señor, sino que difunden el apego a Maya.
ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਊਚਰੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਪਸਾਰੀ ॥ ॥
En su interior hay codicia e ilusión; en la ilusión, se comportan como tontos.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਲਾਲਚੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਹੈ ਭਰਮੈ ਗਾਵਾਰੀ ॥ ॥
Oh Nanak, no recuerdan el Nombre; han perdido el juego de la vida. ||14||
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਈ ਜੂਐ ਬਾਜੀ ਹਾਰੀ ॥੧੪॥ ॥
Salok, Primer Guru.
ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੧ ॥ ॥
Se enamoran de los placeres mundanos, cien mil vidas, ¿qué alegría, qué deseo?
ਲਖ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਲਖ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਕਿਆ ਖੁਸੀਆ ਕਿਆ ਚਾਉ ॥ ॥
Separados, se vuelven venenosos; la separación llega en un instante.
ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆ ਵਿਸੁ ਹੋਇ ਵਿਛੋੜਾ ਏਕ ਘੜੀ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਇ ॥ ॥
Aunque coman dulces durante cien años, al final comerán algo amargo.
ਜੇ ਸਉ ਵਰ੍ਹਿਆ ਮਿਠਾ ਖਾਜੈ ਭੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਕਉੜਾ ਖਾਇ ॥ ॥
Lo dulce que comieron no les viene a la mente; la amargura los consume.
ਮਿਠਾ ਖਾਧਾ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਕਉੜਤਣੁ ਧਾਇ ਜਾਇ ॥ ॥
Tanto lo dulce como lo amargo son enfermedades.
ਮਿਠਾ ਕਉੜਾ ਦੋਵੈ ਰੋਗ ॥ ॥
Oh Nanak, al final, los placeres se desvanecen.
ਨਾਨਕ ਅੰਤਿ ਵਿਗੁਤੇ ਭੋਗ ॥ ॥
Prueban y prueban, disputando y probando.
ਝਖਿ ਝਖਿ ਝਖਣਾ ਝਗੜਾ ਝਾਖ ॥ ॥
Prueban y prueban, y se van con aquellos a quienes prueban. ||1||
ਝਖਿ ਝਖਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਝਖਹਿ ਤਿਨੑ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੧॥ ॥
Primer Guru.
ਮਃ ੧ ॥ ॥
Tiñen la tela y la madera con tintes.
ਕਾਪੜੁ ਕਾਠੁ ਰੰਗਾਇਆ ਰਾਂਗਿ ॥ ॥
Hacen casas y jardines, jardines y jardines.
ਘਰ ਗਚ ਕੀਤੇ ਬਾਗੇ ਬਾਗ ॥ ॥
Con placer y tranquilidad, entretienen sus mentes.
ਸਾਦ ਸਹਜ ਕਰਿ ਮਨੁ ਖੇਲਾਇਆ ॥ ॥
Contigo, oh Señor, se habla de todo.
ਤੈ ਸਹ ਪਾਸਹੁ ਕਹਣੁ ਕਹਾਇਆ ॥ ॥
Hacen dulce y comen amargo.
ਮਿਠਾ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਕਉੜਾ ਖਾਇਆ ॥ ॥
Esa amargura crea enfermedad en sus cuerpos.
ਤਿਨਿ ਕਉੜੈ ਤਨਿ ਰੋਗੁ ਜਮਾਇਆ ॥ ॥
Si luego le agregan dulce,
ਜੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਮਿਠਾ ਪੇੜੈ ਪਾਇ ॥ ॥
Entonces, madre, la amargura desaparecerá.
ਤਉ ਕਉੜਤਣੁ ਚੂਕਸਿ ਮਾਇ ॥ ॥
Oh Nanak, el orientado hacia el Gurú obtiene eso,
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥ ॥
Para quien está escrito obtenerlo. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥ ॥
Pauri.
ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ॥
Aquellos cuyos corazones están llenos de impureza y pecado...
ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਕਪਟੁ ਹੈ ਬਾਹਰੁ ਧੋਵਾਇਆ ॥ ॥
Those whose hearts are filled with the filth of deception, may wash themselves on the outside.
ਕੂੜੁ ਕਪਟੁ ਕਮਾਵਦੇ ਕੂੜੁ ਪਰਗਟੀ ਆਇਆ ॥ ॥
They practice falsehood and deception, and their falsehood is revealed.
ਅੰਦਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਨਿਕਲੈ ਨਹ ਛਪੈ ਛਪਾਇਆ ॥ ॥
That which is within them, comes out; it cannot be concealed by concealment.
ਕੂੜੈ ਲਾਲਚਿ ਲਗਿਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੂਨੀ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ ॥
Attached to falsehood and greed, the mortal is consigned to reincarnation over and over again.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਬੀਜੈ ਸੋ ਖਾਵਣਾ ਕਰਤੈ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧੫॥ ॥
O Nanak, whatever the mortal plants, he must eat. The Creator Lord has written our destiny. ||15||
ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੨ ॥ ॥
Shalok, Second Mehla:
ਕਥਾ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਬੇਦਂੀ ਆਣੀ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ ॥
The Vedas bring forth stories and legends, and thoughts of vice and virtue.
ਦੇ ਦੇ ਲੈਣਾ ਲੈ ਲੈ ਦੇਣਾ ਨਰਕਿ ਸੁਰਗਿ ਅਵਤਾਰ ॥ ॥
What is given, they receive, and what is received, they give. They are reincarnated in heaven and hell.
ਉਤਮ ਮਧਿਮ ਜਾਤੀਂ ਜਿਨਸੀ ਭਰਮਿ ਭਵੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥ ॥
High and low, social class and status - the world wanders lost in superstition.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਤਤੁ ਵਖਾਣੀ ਗਿਆਨ ਧਿਆਨ ਵਿਚਿ ਆਈ ॥ ॥
The Ambrosial Word of Gurbani proclaims the essence of reality. Spiritual wisdom and meditation are contained within it.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਖੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤੀ ਸੁਰਤਂੀ ਕਰਮਿ ਧਿਆਈ ॥ ॥
The Gurmukhs chant it, and the Gurmukhs realize it. Intuitively aware, they meditate on it.
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਸਾਜਿ ਹੁਕਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਰਖੈ ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ॥ ॥
By the Hukam of His Command, He formed the Universe, and in His Hukam, He keeps it. By His Hukam, He keeps it under His Gaze.
ਨਾਨਕ ਅਗਹੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਤੁਟੈ ਤਾਂ ਕੋ ਲਿਖੀਐ ਲੇਖੈ ॥੧॥ ॥
O Nanak, if the mortal shatters his ego before he departs, as it is pre-ordained, then he is approved. ||1||
ਮਃ ੧ ॥ ॥
First Mehla:
ਬੇਦੁ ਪੁਕਾਰੇ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਪਾਪੁ ਸੁਰਗ ਨਰਕ ਕਾ ਬੀਉ ॥ ॥
The Vedas proclaim that vice and virtue are the seeds of heaven and hell.
ਜੋ ਬੀਜੈ ਸੋ ਉਗਵੈ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਜਾਣੈ ਜੀਉ ॥ ॥
Whatever is planted, shall grow. The soul eats the fruits of its actions, and understands.
ਗਿਆਨੁ ਸਲਾਹੇ ਵਡਾ ਕਰਿ ਸਚੋ ਸਚਾ ਨਾਉ ॥ ॥
Whoever praises spiritual wisdom as great, becomes truthful in the True Name.
ਸਚੁ ਬੀਜੈ ਸਚੁ ਉਗਵੈ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਈਐ ਥਾਉ ॥ ॥
When Truth is planted, Truth grows. In the Court of the Lord, you shall find your place of honor.
